What Is the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)?
The Child Care Subsidy is a government initiative designed to reduce the cost of early childhood education and care. Your CCS percentage is determined by:
- Your combined family income
- The number of hours you work, study, volunteer, or train each fortnight
- The type of service you use
- Whether your child is up to date with immunisations
The subsidy is paid directly to Kids Academy, so your weekly fees are reduced automatically - you only pay the gap.

What’s the 3-Day Guarantee?
In February 2025, the Australian Government introduced legislation for a 3-day guarantee. If passed, this new policy would provide more families with access to subsidised early learning.
Here’s what it means:
- All CCS-eligible families will receive at least 72 hours of subsidised care per fortnight - that’s three days a week
- This applies regardless of how many hours you work, study or volunteer
- First Nations families will be eligible for up to 100 hours per fortnight
- Families already completing more than 48 hours of recognised activity will continue to receive up to 100 hours per child
This proposed change could increase access to affordable early learning for thousands of Australian families. We’ll share more updates as they become available.
